Empires are crumbling beneath the battering and the shock of bitterness and death. Foundations of homes are being exploded by military might. Old men in the evening time of life, young men in the bloom of manhood, and even babes held in their mothers' arms are being destroyed by the lash of warfare. The life of civilization is like that of a little child tottering down a bleak i and hate-infested pathway. Everywhere there is darkness, fear, and uncertainty, everywhere there is treachery at work. f BUT HOPE finds a way in America the Great, America the Beautiful, and l America the Blessed Land of Our Forefathers which is fortifying against these germs of evil-these machines of death. It is being done by building the spiritual and the moral, which in turn will govern the physical power of the mightiest nation on earth.
