 A School In Motion Motion is the pulse of all vital and dynamic existence. It is a part of all activity belonging to man. It is an integral and inescapable part of Southwestern. It is reflected in every second of every minute of every hour of every day, in every action and every thought. There is the motion of people as they move from place to place, as they surge and blend Underclassmen, Seniors, individuals, groups, masses. There is the motion of their cars jamming the parking lot to full capacity. There is the motion of Academics, as the mind moves to adapt itself—from subject to sub- ject, concept to concept, from abstract to con- crete, from basics to philosophy. There is the motion of Athletics—the grace and power of the body running, jumping, swim- ming, tackling, grappling. There is the motion of a bat, a football, a basketball, a golf club. There is the movement of sound and excitement at a game or meet. There is the motion of school Activities— the swirl of the dance or prom, the bustle of clubs, the actions of plays, the excited motion of Colt Roundup. Finally there is the wild and exciting move- ment of spirit beating and quickening as the strides of the colt on this cover. And with this colt, we leave the future of Southwestern, so that with the impetus of six years, future students may speed this colt on to his supreme pace—a relent- less, constantly enduring, driving spirit colt.
