Engrossed in conversation are Mr. Ken Green, Mr. Keith Richardson, and Mr. Richard Millar. This year the history depart- ment is offering a new course. Sophomores still take foreign relations and juniors American history but seniors interested in history may take western civilization. Western civilization is the study of European history from early man. This course is combined directly with English class. As you study a certain period in history you will study the literature from that period in English. Mr. George LeBrasseur and Mr. George Genvk are optimistic about the world situation.

Languages Challenge Students Mr. Joe Sim» demonstrate» the correct lull fighting technique as Mr». Jane Chamber» provide» background music. The study of a language is a very important part of high school education. Southwestern students have a choice of taking French, Spanish, German, or Latin. Study- ing Foreign languages helps stu- dents to learn the customs and cultures of other peoples and coun- tries. Many at Southwestern take more than one language in hopes of becoming proficient in foreign tongues. Long hours of study and drill are involved. Mr Patricia Sloboda. Mr. Robert Kill», and Mr .
