Hi h Quality Administrators Benefit S. W. Holding the important post of Deputy Principal is Mr. Robert Rodda whose many responsibilities include the organization of classes and activities and working in close contact with the students, teachers, and other administrators. Our Dean of Counseling, Miss Hulda Gibson, effectively directs our intensive program and provides students with scholarship and college information. As Head Counselor she also assists the other counselors in pro- gramming. The Dean of Students. Mr. James Whittaker, has the varied task of helping students with their problems, either scholastic or social, and in supervising school functions, such as Student Council.

English Required For Students General, non-college and college prep English are the courses offered at Southwestern. General English is for the student with reading difficulties. Non-college English tries to create interest in the subject. College prep English combines history and the humanities, the study of foreign lands and relations, American Lit. and American history. Seniors are given a choice between English Lit. and western civilization. Mrs. Yvonne Herron and Miss Patricia Brain look over a new addition to Southwestern’s library. Discussing various uses of the library and its resources for English classes are Mr. Don Purcell, Miss Louise Sherff, Mrs. Marie Kuemmerline, Mr. Douglas Hamilton, and Mr. George Graeber. 10
