A great” school doesn’t just happen; it results from years of accom- plishment in all areas — curricular and extracurricular by many who consider the goal or result worth the sacri- fice. work, and commitment. Southwestern, TODAY, — has been blessed with hundreds of staff and thousands of students who set as their goal: Southwestern shall be 1 — Southwestern IS THE TOMORROW— that you have been a part of for one, two, three, or four years. The Southwestern experience could very well become the most important of your life. As a Prospector, you have been part of an experience which is rewarding and as meaningful as any could be. 18 — WE DREAMED OF YESTERDA Y— during these four years to make the BLUE and GOLD shine a little brighter. You have joined hands with those other dedi- cated Prospectors who have gone before and who made this school great. OUR ADMINISTRATORS Opposite Page: Mr. )oe Greene. Our diversified curriculum has helped us lo advance in knowledge and participation in extracurricular activities has made us an integral part of our Alma Mater. 32 34 ATHLETES SHOWED THEIR STUFF Inter-Scholastic athletics is one of the many ways in which Prospectors built character, expanded their person- alities, and became highly skilled in their individual sport. When it came time to show what they could do, they gave 100% and their desire to win was evident in every contest. SOUTHWESTERN SCORES DIDN’T Since the enforcement of Title 9, women athletes at Southwestern have added several inter-scholastic sports to their program among them. Tennis in the fall and Golf in the Spring. Long considered minor sports they pro- vided carry-over as leisure time activities for the rest of their lines. 3i TEAMS’ PRIDE PREVAILED EVEN IF THEIR VARSITY GRIDDERS Row One — Tony Coleman. Coach Hoskins pleaded, as he tried to snatch a victory from what turned out to be a bitter disappointing loss. Coach Leon Sims showed signs of strain after becoming the interim head coach following Coach Hoskins unjustly suspension. This year’s gridiron season was once again success- ful and controversial, as Prospectors are accustomed to. Championship hopes were dashed when Coach Hoskins was suspended for the remainder of the sea- son. This was the first time in a long time that we didn’t win the Southwest Division. However, we won twice as many games as we lost, with a final record of 6-3. We are leaving her behind to accept the challenge of the world, but a part of us will always remain with her. For a brief moment, tears of joy and sadness sparkle in our eyes. A swelling surge of gratitude fills our hearts —gratitude to our teachers and to our parents. We face the future with courage and determination. We represent the fruits of a South- western education, and we promise to uphold the principles, standards, ideals, and traditions of our alma mater. As gradu- ates. we go forth.
