Miss Grace Butts Advisors We, the graduates of January 1954, sincerely appreciate the sound advice and guidance which was so willingly given us by Miss Grace Butts and Mr. Michael Yatchman, our class sponsors. We know that without their help our senior year could not have been as enjoyable as it was, nor could we have accomplished what we did. Miss Butts, one of the loveliest and most loved teachers at South- western, attended Albion College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree. She teaches commercial subjects. Miss Butts is known by the students for her lovely smile Mr Yatchman was graduated from Southwestern in January 1942 After spending some time in the service of his country he attended Michigan State College graduating in 1949 He is now working toward his Master s degree at Wayne University He coaches the Prospector football and track teams Although Mr Yatchman has been teaching at Southwestern for only one and one half years he has made many friends among the students Mr Michael Yatchman Dedlcotlon With warm affection and deep gratitude for the many things you have done to help us we the senior class of January 1954 dedicate our Pic torial to Miss Mary Fraser and Mr Vincent McLellan Although she graduated from Northwestern High School here in Detroit Miss Mary Fraser was born in Glasgow Scotland She attended Wayne University and the University of Michigan where she received her Bach elor and Master of Arts degrees She also attended the American School of Classical Studies 1n Athens Greece Before coming to Southwestern Miss Fraser taught at Cook Elementary Here she teaches Latin and English A good many senior girls remember Miss Fraser sthoughtfulness and willingness to help us whenever we needed it Each girl was remembered on her birthday with a card andbest wishes We sincerely hope that the classes to come appreciate her kindness and thoughtfulness as we did Mr Vincent McLellan was born in Detroit and is an alumnus of Southwestern Before coming to Southwestern Mr McLellan taught at Mackenzie for six years He attended law school at the University of Detroit where he received his law degree and was then admitted to the Bar of Michigan He also received his Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from Wayne University All of the senior class will remember Mr McLellan for his under standing and especially his patience with a few He was always kind enough to let us discuss our 12A problems in his class This wonderful teacher has always been a good friend to us 4 We will always be grateful to these teachers for their eagerness to help us for their wise counsel and for all that they have done for us Miss Mary Fraser az. , Mr Vincent McLella1
