Southwestern Heights Presents ZHS M US ZANQSK 1967 —1968 Unified School District J Jo. 483 Kismet - Plains - Kansas Zke Student JCife Of Student Life Thus we begin the year 1967- 68. . . to help make it a year of memories, we the MUSTANGER staff have endeavored to capture some of the breath-taking mo- ments between the covers of this book. To convey the memories we shall recall some of the glorious victories and inevitable defeats of student life. Here to guide us through what seemed an unending task was the administration. Teaching, testing, counselling, and disciplining seem- 1967-68 Now A ed a full time job. Whether or not they enjoyed it, it had to be done, and they would not have been there if they had not been in- terested in us. That get up and go feeling became evident the first few weeks of school as students and teachers were busy getting reacquainted and getting back into the swing of school. The middle of September found us all impatiently waiting the beginning of football season. Our days soon followed a certain pattern, rarely altering. Time began to pass quickly for most of Memory us. Football season was over be- fore we knew it and now we looked for other interests to occupy our energies. Basketball seemed the only alternative for some, while others settled down to concentrate on their studies. Holidays came and went. Last minute term papers were handed in, semester tests given, and we start- ed the new year. Once again we became involved in the routine of classes and whirlwind of activities. Basketball games occupied some of the evenings, while speech and music contests filled the weekends. Everywhere we turned the social pressures surrounded us. Spring brought the usual spring fever. Most of us survived... a few didn't. The weeks seemed to be getting longer and with track and golf meets two or three times a week, things were never the same. The Juniors busied themselves with plans for the Prom, trying to make it the best. Sophomores 4 and Freshman planned last min- ute class parties while Seniors a- waited that all important day----- graduation. In the mean time there was plenty to keep us busy, a style show, music concerts, banquets, and parties.....And then it was all over with. Some would leave and never look back, some were sorry to leave and return for visits, some will return next year with hopes of making it an even more memorable year. Right now this is just another yearbook we can look at to see how many times our picture ap- pears but in ten or twenty years we will look at it and recall some of the friendships we established and the fun we shared in that memor- able year 1967-68.
