Re a alee at DEDICATION The staff of THE OPEN DOOR proudly dedicates the 1973 edition to Mr. Paul Ellis, member and immediate past Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Ellis, a graduate of North Carolina State University, joined Mead Corporation's staff in 1929 as a chemist. He came to Sylva in 1938 as General Manager of the local plant and stayed for ten years; served the next ten years in Virginia, and returned to Sylva in 1958 to hold the same post until his retirement in 1969. During all these years, he has provided leader- ship in many areas of community life, and has been a good friend to Southwestern Technical In- stitute since its beginning. Mr. Ellis gives freely of his time to serve in the affairs of this institution. He is a source of strength to the administration, faculty and students, who recognize the wisdom and integrity of this truly outstanding gentleman. An unofficial but certainly important asset is the contribution of time and talent made by Mr. Ellis's charming wife, Louise. Southwestern Technical Institute is indeed for- tunate to have Paul Ellis as a friend and member of its governing board.
