Dedication . . . They said it was my duty . . . and they gave me a clean khaki uniform . . . and a gun . . . and I went away to war. I went away . . . believing that I would come back . . . I would not be killed . . . I was too young to die . . . and I was too young to kill .... but I did .... The uniform is clean no longer . . . and the gun is only a splinter . . . and I am only a memory to those I left behind with only a prayer for comfort. . . To die . . . so young . . . I still had not tasted life . . . only the bitter drops of hate. But you . . . you must not mourn my death . . . I am proud of my heritage. I loved it . . .
