Perhaps some explanation as to the theme should be given. Because the world has reached a place where civilization might be wiped out at any moment were two nations to engage in combat, the time has come when all thinking men and women of intelligence must fight against this impending disaster. And so the 1925 Moundbuilder was woven about this idea. just as the Knights of old journeyed on Crusades in order to save Christianity, so must the colleges journey on a Peace Crusade to protect humanity. In order to keep the theme of the book and the decoration uniform, the art work was based on medieval art. The lettering, illuminating, and design is taken directly from Celtic manuscript of the eighth and ninth century, going to the source, thereby, of the chivalric movements. The Irish embellishment consisted characteristically of spi- rals, interlacements, and strange inter-woveii con- ventional animals and birds of Ireland, done by the artist monks. To Dean Farnsworth belongs the credit of carrying this Celtic Art throughout the book, and the staff is greatly indebted to his efforts in making the 1925 Moundbuilder a success. The book is divided into three main divisions, namely Faculty and Classes, Activities, and Organ- izations. Under Activities come athletics and forensics, and under organizations come societies, clubs, Y.W.C.A., Y.M.C.A., publications, favor- ites, and features.
