Cheaper b ln our junior year, the Class of '67 presented Cheaper by the Dozen, a three-act comedy about the Gilbreth family and their efficiency minded father. Despite his high school age daughters, inter- est in boys and dates, Mr. Gilbreth pushes ahead with better organization for his large family. He puts up a chart for the children to initial after completing each household task, uses a rug as an imaginary bathtub to demonstrate how to take a really efficient bath, and appointed a utilities officer to levy fines on wasters of electricity. In our senior year we presented The Tender Trap. This was a three-act comedy about a happily married man, ,loe McCall, who goes to New York City on a business trip and while there visits a friend. This friend'7 is a bachelor who has girl problems. At one time he even manages to become engaged to two girls. During his stay, ,loe lVlcCall is enticed by one girl in particular. However, every- thing turns out happily in the end. 56 the Dozen Srene from The Tender Trapf' Row 1: K. Ellis, C. Peterson, V. Morris, J. Bradish, P. Guyer. Row 2: N. Power, M. Peterson, P. The striving of each student to acquire knowledge and to develop talents and character. It is the striving to do one,s best at all times and never to acceptfailure as being final. It is the striving to broaden one's life as much as possible through the experiences which school offers. And perhaps most important ofall, it is the striving on the part of each student to be fully prepared for thefuture which lies ahead. U nderclassmen JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS-D. Cardarople, L. Bridges, P. Taylor, K. Rushin. Southwestern is . . . challenge. Ourjunior year is a time of challenge. Much more is expected of us now than ever before. Our teachers are chal- lenging us with new ideas to stimulate our minds. We are being given more independence, but we also must learn responsibility. We are looked upon as leaders, and as leaders we must always try to do our best for the good of all. Our minds, abilities, and talents are being challenged to meet these demands and also to meet the demands of the future. GRADE ELEVEN-ROW I-K. Roper, K. Petillo, B. Pate, ,l. Buckley, D. Taft, K. As members of the Senior High we are being given many new respon- sibilities, which will help to prepare us for the day when we will finally become the leaders of the student body. As soph- omores we are also beginning to prepare for our ownfutures. It is now that we must consider our plans for what we will do after we leave Southwestern. SOPHOMORE OFFICERS-D. Robbins, P. A team cannot perform at its best without each member realizing that he is a part of a unit and that he has a responsibility to the others to do his utmost. Unity is also the feeling dependence of one member upon another. Each person knows that without the aid of his team- mates he could accomplish very little. Unity gives the team the spirit to excel. It must be the spirit of everyone, both students and teachers. This spirit must come freely from the heart, and must be expressed in the cheerful giving of one,s time and energy to an endeavor. An individual with spirit, who gives of himself unselfishly to activities, not only benefits those around him, but even more important, enriches his own life.
