New Hospital to Cost 55.5 Million The August 6, 1967 ground-breaking ceremony, at which John A. Volpe, Governor of the State of Massachusetts, was the keynote speaker, marked the culmination of many months of planning this beautiful modern structure. Bed capacity will be increased from 185 to 285 beds, completely modern in every detail - with a double corridor design locating the nurses' stations and service rooms in the center section, near all pa- tients. The hospital takes pride in being a part of the growing communities it serves. The Massachusetts Bay Area has outstanding educational and recrea- tional facilities, including excellent Seventh-day Adventist and public school systems, and interna- tionally recognized universitiesand colleges. The area is rich in the tradition and culture of our found- ing fathers, with never-ending points of interest for naturalist, scientist, historian, and tourist alike. A four-season climate, attractive parks, nearby lakes, mountains, forests, numerous summer and winter recreational resorts - and most of all, friend- ly people and adequate housing - make the area an ideal place in which to live and work.
