Always you are busy, yet you have time to help anyone who calls on you at any time, and it is for this that we students especially thank you We appreciate your ability to refrain from making fun or laughing at our foolish questions--questions to which we should usually know the answers. We thank you for your knowledge, your patience, your -keen sense of humor, your ability to like everyone, and your kind way in telling us we are making too much noise in your library. U15 President is Message The great Aristotle was once asked how much superior educated men' were to those unedu- cated. He replied, As much as the living are superior to the dead. Time has proven the old philosopher to be right. The year of your life that you have iust spent on this campus was a good investment. Authorities tell us that the College graduate of '59 will earn more than Sl00,000 more than a non-graduate during an average lifetime. But education is of more value than wealth. ln the book, Gods, Graves and Scholars, the author tells of the evacuation of the city of Pompeii, which was buried by the lava of Mt. Vesuvius. The first body uncovered stretched out full length was a skeleton, with gold and silver coins that had rolled out of his bony hands, still seeking, it seemed, to clutch them fast. There comes a time when money is worthless, but education has values that will hold into the eons of eternity. Education is valuable because it is part of the work of redemption. It is worth more than money or social prestige. More important than a good rating in Dunn and Bradstreet, Who's Who in America, The Social Register, or The 100 Most Important People in the World, is a listing in the Lamb's Book of Life. Although a busy man, our President still finds time to spend with his family. for 'r' T1 ' P cl - EK P P 44474 A glimpse into his office shows him and his secretary doing one of the daily activities. ,4 v f -NW Jackie, Donny, Elder and Mrs. Scales Irene Rice, Bookkeeper Cecily Syme, Secretary to the Business Manager MJ U, My 00 W lik JF ll ll My XM 1 3 !
