WOODS, Presirlent, Union College J. W. TURNER President of the Southwestern Union, Conference fi m'til1ute-- Character, we are told. is not the result ol accident, hut rather, it is the work of a life time. Stability of char- acter in a school is no exception to this rule. Behind the institution stand the characters of the men who mold its ideals. formulate its policies, and guide its operations from year to year. Under the careful direction ol' its Board, Southwestern ,lunior College has steadily enlarged its curriculum, strengthened its faculty, and improved its equip- ment. Even a glance at the history of the school's growth brings evidence that, Back of the Joh are the Dreamersy making the dream come true. In addition to the enlarging of the industrial plant, the remodeling of the library and administrative oliices, and the constant beautifying of the campus. since 1949, a number of structural dreams have found concrete expression in the erection of Hamilton Hall--the mens' dormitory, Turner Auditorium, the Fire Department and the lndus- trial Arts buildings. Now under construction is an ultra modern, fully fire-proof unit which will become the new quarters for the Demonstration School. A music conservatory with adequate teaching and practice facilities to meet the needs of a rapidly growing music department is another dream soon to be fulfilled. To the men who plan to work fox a larger, more effective Southwestern Junior College 'wc pay tribute in this expression of our confidence and appreciation. LEON REPLOGLE, Superintendent Spanish- lgresiclemt lgoutltwusturn junior College 'Vin institution is but the length- ened shadow of its leaders, someone has aptly stated. Through the years of its growth, Southwestern Junior College has been guided lay men of vision and consecrated zeal. Its steady progress is a testimony of wise lead- ership. PETERS, President of Southwestern Junior College This mid-century year is an appropriate time to take a retrospective view of the past, and a courageous forward look to the future! Southwestern Junior College has symbolized for fifty years and more a citadel for Christian youth! The humble buildings on the campus are silent testimonies in themselves of love and self-sacrificing devotion to the cause of Christian service. However, no school or enterprise can be content with the achievements of the past. Ours today is the task of not only living up to the fine traditions established by those who have gone before us but of pressing forward with that mighty challenge of a risen and soon coming Saviour, whom we name the Christ. May it be our happiness to know the pleasure of Commendation from One who in tenderness permits man additional time to understand God's love to work out his salvation! May the ensuing years be such as to make us fit into His eternal plan! J. V.
