After the sun goes down ... Contrary to popular belief, college life doesn’t end when the last class of the day is over. That ' s when the magic of college life really gets started. Afternoons at the Student Union are particularly busy with ping-pong games, pool competitions, and friends chatting about everything from their most recent night out to Mrs. Pope’s fried chicken. Outside the Union, students can be found in a number of places. Besides the socializing around campus, football and basketball practice are usually in progress, and later on in the evening, the cheerleaders’ voices and the mellow sounds of the Bear band can be heard echoing across campus. Almost every night offers a different schedule of events at SMJC. Tuesday night is a great night for dating couples and for those who are on a low-income budget. For one thing, it’s $1.50—night at the movie, and for a low-cost, filling meal before the show, one of the pizza places offers “all you, can eat” at one super- low price. On Wednesday nights, it’s pretty difficult to find anyone on campus. That’s the night many SW students choose to socialize off campus. Every night, except game nights, of course, many of the football players are making their moves at the girls’ dorm. Whether a student enjoys being with a crowd, being alone, or being with someone spe¬ cial, the magic of friendship can be easily found at South¬ west. o 16
