Ugh! Those Cards Ah, those little cards! Everyone hates them. You can’t seem to get away from them—they follow you relentlessly. They’re known as registration cards! Registration—the curse of the stu¬ dents. 1980 registration was, most likely, one of the smoothest in Southwest his¬ tory. More students enrolled at South¬ west this year than at any other time with a total of 1136 registering. Even with all those registering, the lines still moved fairly fast. The BSU and Wesley Foundation were on hand with coke booths to make registration more bearable. A special thanks to everyone who helped fight the battle of the little com¬ puter card. P.S.D. Cotton-Eye Joe and Away We Go SMJC students got acquainted western style in 1980, and the response was a hearty western YAHOO!” Top Notch Talent was there to spin the hits and one of the biggest crowds of Southwest students ever turned out to enjoy the “Get Acquainted Dance.” “Let’s Dance” was heard throughout the student union and no one stayed shy for long. A contest for the “Best Dressed Cowboy and Cowgirl” was held and proved a big success. When it was over, everyone was sure Southwest was the “hospitable” place to be. P.S.D. Joey Fortenberry and Colleen Stringer win cowboy hats for being the best dressed cowboy and cowgirl at the Get Acquainted Dance. Carl Moak and Gregg Coke compete for best dressed cowboy. Betsy Carraway enjoys the variety of music, people and outfits at Cowboy Dance. Cowboy Dance 17
