Holmes, is a man who has been with SMJC a long time and who has shown intense in¬ terest in and has given in¬ spiration to many students. President Holmes is a native of Sherman. He received his Associate of Arts degree from Jones Junior College and both a B.S. and a M.A. from the Uni¬ versity of Southern Mississippi. He has done further graduate work at the University of Southern Mississippi and at Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Lefay have two sons, Horace. C., Jr. (Butch) and Larry McClelland. President Holmes is a Baptist deacon, President of the Sum¬ mit Lion’s Club, a Mason, a member of the Mississippi Board of Water Commission¬ ers, a director of the Pearl Biver Basin Development Dis¬ trict, a member of the Pike County Selective Service Board, a member of the Mis¬ sissippi Education Association, past president of the Mississippi Education Association of Coaches, a member of the American Association of Junior Colleges, and a member of the Southern Association of Sec¬ ondary Schools and Colleges.
