It was a dream, a name, a choice, and a fear. It will ultimately be a memory of classes and clocks, of books and bells, of lectures and friends. A memory of lines, loves, labs, coffee, Rook, football and cheering, singing, voting, and finals. A memory of happiness—a memory of sadness—a memory of being for a moment a member of a class now gone forever. This was SMJC ... A MEMORY OF OUR HURRIED YOUTH. But perhaps this annual named Today can preserve for you glimpses of that youth. I wish to thank my supervisor, Mrs. Craig, and my staff for their effort in making this publication a reality. To name everyone who helped would be impossible, but my special thanks go to Dr. Edsel Stewart who graciously allowed us to use his home for the Who’s Who pictures and to Miss Valorie Nybo whose sincere dedication to all students found her delving even into this phase of campus life. Let us always cherish the dreams of today and reminisce the year 1970-71. Editor 1970-71 Whispering Pines
