Throughout the future, the alumni of Southwest Mis¬ sissippi Junior College can recall many pleasant memories of their years at S.M.J.C. We hope that this edition of the Whispering Pines will be a key to unlock your storehouse of memories. Precious moments spent with friends, pride gained from academic achievements, and athletic victories won, filling each student with spirit and enthusiam, have made 1965 a year to remember. As this year comes to a close, S.M.J.C. will become a pleasant memory to each sophomore and to each fresh¬ man, Southwest Mississippi Junior College offers another span of time to enjoy the wonderful life beneath the whispering pines. ,th«est Miss. Jr- College Library Summit, Mississippi Dedication Behind every great man stands a great woman. Mrs. H. T. Huddleston is the woman who stands behind our President. By standing behind President Huddleston with her love, encouragement, and advice, Mrs. Huddleston is a major part of Southwest Mississippi Junior College. Southwest could not efficiently operate without those persons standing behind the scenes giving their talent and dedication to our college. Mrs. Huddleston is truly one of these dedicated people. Standing with President Huddleston, Mrs. Huddleston is the silent partner, who helps make Mr. Huddles¬ ton such an outstanding President. Although Mrs. Huddleston may not be known personally by many of the students, every student at this college is aware of her contribution to our school. To show our admiration and appreciation, we dedicate the 1965 Whis¬ pering Pines to Mrs. H, T. Huddleston, the woman behind our President. May it be your purpose in life whatever your hands find to do, that do with all your might. That is the lesson of all experience. Face every task with a determination to conquer its difficulties and never to let them conquer you. No task is too small to be done well. For the man who is worthy, who is fit to perform the deeds of the world, even the greatest, sooner or later the opportunity to do them will come. I wish for you success in your future plans. The students, who have been given this honor, are selected by a committee composed of faculty members. The committee uses great care in selecting those stu¬ dents who most deserve the honor of being a member of the Hall of Fame. Hall of JACK EASON What makes a good leader? In order to be a good leader, one must be able to analyze any prob¬ lem or situation, devise the best possible solution, and then carry out this plan for solution with in¬ telligence and tact. Jack Eason has used these qualities of a good leader to serve his school as Presi¬ dent of the Student Government Association. Not only has Jack served his school in this capacity, but he has also been an active member of the B.S.U. Choir, the Wesley Foundation, and the PINE BURR staff. To reward Jack for his work at Southwest, he has been chosen for the Southwest Hall of Fame. F, ante DEBBIE McGUIRE A combination of high ideals and high scholastic records merit Debbie McGuire her place in the Hall of Fame. Because of her in¬ tellectual abilities and diligent work, Debbie has been an honor roll student during both her years at Southwest. Debbie has used her intelligence and her willingness to work for the benefit of the WHISPERING PINES and the Stu¬ dent Government Association. She has also used her leadership abil¬ ity by serving as Vice-President of the Wesley Foundation. Debbie, because you have given Southwest your best, you have been given a place in the 1964-65 Hall of Fame. Hall of PATTY REID Two years of high scholastic average, a talent for organization, a pleasing personality, and a dash of acting ability — these are the ingredients which make Patty Reid such an outstanding student. During her two years at South¬ west, Patty has maintained a high scholastic average. Through her work as exchange editor for the PINE BURR, and class editor for the WHISPERING PINES. Patty has used her talents for the better¬ ment of Southwest. Because of Patty ' s pleasing personality and abundance of school spirit, she was elected maid in the 1964 Homecoming Court. Another of Patty ' s achievements was in the Southwest production of Come Blow Your Horn , in which Patty had a leading role. For her many achievements at Southwest, Patty has a place in the Hall of Fame. Fame VASHTI STEPHENSON Perhaps it is her radiant smile, her friendly personality, or maybe even her reliability that has made Vashti Stephenson such a pleasant asset to her school. TVs membership in the B.S.U, Choir, the PINE BURR staff, the WHISPER¬ ING PINES staff, and her lead roll in The Queen ' s Mirror rhow the versatility of this outstanding stu¬ dent. Ti ' s warm, friendly personali¬ ty won the admiration of her fel¬ low students, who elected her Freshman Class Favorite in the 1964 Who ' s Who contest. Ti was also honored her sophomore year at Southwest by being elected secretary of the Student Govern¬ ment Association. The contribu¬ tions Ti has made to her school and to her fellow students give her the high honor of being a member of the Hall of Fame. ■ ' Patty, Jack, Vashti and Debbie walk out of our Hall of Fame and into what we know will be a successful future!
