We Arrive . . . We arrive at Southwest. We are fresh from high school, fresh in college. We begin as Freshmen, and we grow into Sophomores. We are alone. For the first time we are thinking individually. We are encour¬ aged to react individually. We are assum¬ ing responsibility individually. We are be¬ coming ourselves. Two years we spend here—working, studying, learning—mostly happy, some¬ times sad. Two years of our lives dedicat¬ ed to education but holding many other precious accomplishments. Two years of our lives, hard earned, but well spent. Every minute event begun in the forma¬ tive years has become the soul and sub¬ stance of our college and of each student. 23
