Take N ote Qi These Bands The concert and symphonic bands performed both in school and around the country. They played and prepared solos and ensembles for these programs. The symphonic band put on shows for neighboring junior highs and elementary schools. Twenty mem- bers were also picked to participate in the South Florida Honors Band at the University of Miami. Both symphonic and concert band have members that feed into march- ing band. These students spent many hours, afterschool, perfecting their music for halftime shows and competitions. All these bands were an integral part of our music program. ii is . 'X .. Practice and more practice make Brevard Sullivan and George Batella the best! It just comes naturally to Kim. Practicing on the fields since Au- gust, in order to perfect routines and march in the football games, both corps worked hard to receive a supe- rior rating at the National Band Contest held in November. With their deep purple and pearl white silk flags waving in the wind, the girls moved to each beat of the music. The Twirlers and Lancers added variety and style to the half- time shows.
