Taking time out from a busy schedule is For- eign Language Club member, Joseph Meyer. Dedicating his time to the club is James Lin. Lisa Chase listens to last meeting's minutes. A Club officers relax for a few moments. Ms. Dubane thinks about the club's future. Parlez Vous . . . Foreign Language Club, an orga- nization which appeals to those in- dividuals who are interested in var- ious cultures, was open to all students. Besides having meetings twice a month, Foreign Language Club par- ticipants visited international fairs and ate at ethnic restaurants. The biggest project this year was a visit to Epcot, where students were able to take note of various cultures. CLUBS! 2 0 1

lets Soar in Field of Science Traveling through the field of sci- ence was the Junior Engineering Technological Society fJ.E.T.S.D. This international science club visited such places as the Planetarium where they viewed a lazer show and Cape Canaveral, where they watched a space launch. Competitions were held county- wide, including a match at the Uni- versity of Miami against other high schools. Continuing his responsibilities as J.E.T.S. sponsor was Dr. Samuel Meyer. Club president, Andrea Blum and vice-president, Lourdes Rodri- guez led the way for a successful year of science. Wx., I , . Bottom row: Linda Narzissenfeld and Annet Huijing. Basketball Club The Basketball Club, new to Southwest this year, was a great boost to the team. Each member of the club was assigned secret pals and gave the players candy before the games. The club held many fundraisers such as selling stuffed animals and having a refreshment stand at each home game. The c1ub's co-sponsors, Coach Moore and Ms. Lamb felt that the club was an inspiration to the team. 20 ZXCLUBS Jennie Carranza does not think much of one of Coach Moore's sarcastic jokes. -X xv Q. l
