Close-Up Goes to Washington Learning about politics and get- ting involved in activities was what Close-Up was all about. Open to any junior or senior, Close-Up's main project was planning its annual trip to Washington, D.C. In order to help pay for the trip, each club member sold bagels, bumper stickers, and baked goods. In preparation for the excursion, the students studied various books which covered the issues of the time. During the trip, Southwest's stu- dents toured the cities of Washing- ton, Georgetown, and Williamsburg. They also attended seminars and lectures. All-in-all, Close-Up had a wonder- ful trip and a fine year. Alex O'Brien tries to comprehend the matter. 1 Jorge P. listens to a fund-raising idea. 1 8 6fCLUBS During a Close-Up meeting.
