To the Class of 1964: Congratulations to each graduating senior on achieving an educational goal—graduation from Southwest High School. It is most appropriate at this time to remind you that life is filled with opportunities for education and I hope that each of you will continue to grow in the years ahead using the lessons you have learned here as a foundation for future learning. Good luck (remembering that luck is when preparation meets opportunity) to each of you in all your future work—whatever and wherever it is. Principals To the Graduating Class of 1964: In selecting '’spirit” as the theme for your 1964 Wagistanian, you have pinpointed what I believe to be a magic ingredient of human life. Spirit has much to do with success and happiness in life on the one hand, or failure and unhappiness on the other. We have seen many examples of the results of spirit on the football field. Football coaches sometimes call it desire, others call it enthusiasm. Call it what you will, it is that quality of human life that not only brings victor)- on the athletic field, but is equally potent in bringing success in the classroom or on the job. It is that human quality which attracts friends and which puts zest into all areas of living. Positive spirit results in I will’ which is just as important as IQ in mastering the problems of life.
