German Club LILLIAN NELSON Frtnch Club JOSEPHINE WILLIAMS English, Latin Club The knowledge of at least one foreign language has become almost essential in our ever-shrinking world. To keep up with the pace Southwest offers French, German, and Spanish, in addition to classical Latin. Study of these languages has been aided this year by the addition of three language labs, which allow teachers to work more closely with individuals. Emphasis is placed on hearing the language, giving the student an opportunity to correct pronunciation and grammar. Number, pi erne I 15

In seventh and eighth grade, students choose between the two and may continue this subject throughout Senior High. The goals of this program arc the Choralettes, Choir or the Senior Band. The Southwest Art Department offers an opportunity for self-expression while learning basic techniques. An introduction is given in Junior High and elective courses are offered for those who wish to continue in Senior High. We can thank the Art Department for their attractive displays around Southwest.
