ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL We are fortunate this year to have Mr. C. H. Meixner as our new assistant principal. Although some of us have not had the opportunity to know him personally, we certainly appreciate all the work he has done for Southwest. His many responsibilities make him one of the busiest persons in the school. We hope that he will continue to find features of Southwest which please him. FACULTY COUNCIL 7 SEATED: C. H. Meixner, A. Witherow, R. H. Claston, Principal, O. Welch. STANDING: P. Ford. C. Pearson, K. Ulhorn. Not Pictured: F. Rogers.

TO THE GRADUATING CLASS OF I960: The modern world is demanding, as never before, the ability to think, —to be creative. The machine is taking over the routine tasks that require only thoughtless repetition. Today the hand is merely the helper to the brain. Creative thinking and confidence in one's ability to carry out his ideas are important ingredients of today's success. It is, therefore, very appropriate that the Class of 1960 has chosen creativity as the theme for its Wagistanian. Best of wishes, R. H. Classon 6

COUNSELORS MR. WARNER Boys' Counselor We are privileged to have three well qualified counselors to help the students of Southwest with their educational and personal problems. They have a difficult, but rewarding job. The Junior High Counselor, Miss Magnusson, assists both boys and girls of the Junior High. She is a capable teacher and an able counselor. Miss Brinley is known by all the Southwest girls for her tireless efforts in guidance. The endless line of students outside her office indicates the value of her advice. The position of Boys' Counselor in the Senior High is held by Mr. Warner. His interest in school activities makes him a competent advisor for A.F.S. Throughout the year, Miss Brinley and Mr. Warner help the seniors with their college plans. There are many tests which the seniors must take to qualify for college, and the counselors have a responsibility in guiding them to a correct decision. The seniors greatly appreciate this help. 8
