Actually, these groups, which also include the office helpers, library helpers. V.A.C.. and stogecrcw un selfishly give up study time to render Southwest many valuable services. G. A. A. G.A.A. COUNCIL—Row I: Diane Cain, Lorinc LaVoic. Row 2: yvonnc Malloy. Oianc Lockrem. Barbara R. Williams. Row 3: Mrs. Boylan, Barbara Bowen. Nancy Carney, Sandra Skinner. The Purpose of the G.A.A. Council is to help regulate the activities of the Girls' Athletic Association, one of the largest school organizations. The chief duties of this group are to plan sports activities and determine points for awards. Early last fall, girls trying out for this spring's golf team began practice. Most of the girls turned in six score cards averaging in the low seventies. The best record belonged to Mary Langsam, who turned in a total of eleven cards with a score in the low fifties. Because of the large number who wished to try out for the team. Mrs. Boylan, the girls' golf coach, required eight golf lessons to be taken during the winter months. Despite the stiff entry requirements, fifty girls tried out for the team. Those who had practiced most consistently and had the best averages were selected. The team, under the enthusiastic direction of Mrs. Boylan. has shown both interest and ability. They should do well in the coming season. The swimming team, another branch of G.A.A. ended a very successful season by finishing third in the all-city meet. Finalists in the meet were Barbara Bowers, Judy Hale. Carol and Rosalind Steffy and Penny Bond. GIRLS’ SWIMMING TEAM Ian. Yvornc Malloy Row I Bowers. Carol Steffy. Jean Axtcll, Lynn La Mottr. Roth Janice Richardson. Sandra Bamc, Mary Langsam.
