Business Education is very much involved with developing skills with which students will be able to obtain jobs. The courses offered prepare students for the world of work if they follow a definite sequence of elective courses in business. 1. Cindy Rhoten and Janet Crine take a course in shorthand to make words shorter. 2. Mickey Caddell and Rosalia Lizarraga tryout the new adding machines. 3. Julie Clark is taking a typing course in business education. 4. Jeff Jerkey uses a duplicator for a helpful purpose. 5. Learning about and liking the machines that make the world go smoother. Expressing our minds. . . Expressing our souls. . Fiat? , - 'l' The art program at Southwest, under the instruction of lVIr. John Raue, has produced individual works of creativity and expression on the part of the students. Courses in art and crafts are offered. 1. Antonio Rodriques water colors a picture that shows a dark country road. 2. Haydee Rico and Sara Mungia show the acts of patience, imagination, and skill are a necessity in the world of art. 3. Art Forral made this form of art called Op.-Art. 4. Susan Avalos and Letty Estrella find the time and putting out the effort turns out to be something worth striving for.

Learning, discovering the past And yearning for the future AX-2-.G -5 '34 ian aa.-N -f . - X11 Language arts, social science and laboratory science classes began the year with a great deal of enthusiasm- and a few missing pieces. The new plant provided an outstanding environment forlearning and gradually all of the texts, materials and equipment arrived. Student response to a dedicated and energetic faculty was rewarding. Second semester opened with a full complement of elective offerings designed to fit the needs of the students of Southwest High School. 1. Diane Johnson, Diane Noel, Tom Lange, Adam Johnson, and Michelle Noel all hard at work in English Competency. 2. James Judkins, Maria Torres and Lydia Kage reveal the inside of a fetel pig. 3. Frankie Gonzales and Paco Mendoza take a break as they try to figure out the assignment. 27
