Sam Besa and Arturo Molina receive flags for the school. 3. Dana Van Schoiack, Ms. Stenvall, Ms. Ligon, Charles Scronce, and Ms. Syverson relax in the cafeteria after the dedication. 4. Mr. Rindone entertains the guests. 5. Mr. Richards directs Mary Whitson, Gloria Kreuger, Sherrie Morris, Jay Judal and Denise James in Toccata for Band. 6. Mr. Macevicz visits with guests after the ceremony. 7. Sam Besa receives the California flag from Assemblyman Deddeh. 101

The dedication of Southwest High turned out to be a most impressive and successful event. People who attended the dedication were the Board of Trustees, the architect of Southwest --lVlr. Foster, and other important dignitaries . The program began with Father Timothy Har- nett of St. Charles Catholic Church. Arturo lVlolina led the flag salute and the Raider Band, directed by IVlr. Harold Richards, pro- vided the National Anthem . The program con- tinued with lVlrs. Ruth Chapman of the Board of Trustees giving a welcoming speech to many parents, students and the special guests who attended. Introduction of the special guests and dignitaries was given by lVlrs, Judith Bauer Ernest Azhocar made the presentation of the school to the Community, the P .T.A., and to the student body. Special flags were presented to Sam Besa and Arturo lVlolina, student body presidents, by Assemblyman Deddeh and Senator lVlills.
