The seasons have always governed men's lives. It is with thought of the seasons that man plants and har- vests his crops and shelters his family. In modern in- dustry, productivity is determined on a seasonal basis. In addition, the seasons determine the activities of a modern academic community. With the passage of the seasons come football games, Christmas aud sessions, and commencement. And, with the passage of the seasons comes the passing of time. Thirty years have now passed in the story of South- west High School. These thirty years have been rich in educational accomplishment for thousands of students. It is important that we commemorate this achievement as Southwest celebrates its thirtieth anniversary and prepares for the challenge of the future. These considerations have led this yearfs Roundup staff to attempt a different approach to the organization of this book. It is hoped that by allowing the chrono- logical order of the year's events to act as a basic for- mat, that this Roundup will transcend the cold surface of pure history and mere journalism to reflect the es- sence of all that school life is and means.
