This organization has been responsible for Hput- ting on a mammoth show during the past year. Our inquiring reporter was astonished when he examined their skit Read this report of Mrs. Murphy, the president, and you. too, will marvel. We are pleased to render a brief report on the progress of the PTA at Southwest High School and wish to say that this progress is due entirely to the wonderful spirit of coop- eration at our school. This cooperation has resulted in concrete benefits to the student body. A committee was appointed to call on the Board of Education in an attempt to correct three troublesome conditions in our school. As a result we were successful in attaining the sound-proofing of the cafeteria, improved ventilation of the boys locker-room, and the addition to the building of a wing that will accommodate the Industrial Arts and the Home Economics Departments. We were, also, successful in obtaining the school stop sign and safety-walk-way across Arsenal Street. We purchased a television set, material for fifteen pair of culottes for our cheerlead- ers, two ice-box coolers for our faculty, and mahogany book shelves for our library as a memorial to Mr. Sackett, our former prin- cipal. We provided chaperones for various activities of the school, sponsored a dancing class for students, gave a party for each of the graduating classes, and furnished clerical assistance at the Science Fair. As we have always found that the parents are interested in the school curriculum, we planned our year's program accordingly, us- ing the theme, School In Action. The in- crease in attendance, noticeably of fathers, prompted us to have four night meetings in- stead of three. Our membership was in- creased over that of last years. The excel- lent faculty was represented one hundred per cent. Southwest High School PTA ranks first in membership in St. Louis.', if xi WN Magus vm,- Row One: Mrs. G. D. VVh1te, Mrs, R. V. Many other activities which the group performed deserve mention in these pages, but after all, didn't we say that the play is over?
