The Class of 1964 now has little more than memories left with which to compose the high school chapter of its life. Beginning with 204 in the freshman year, the class dwindled to 168, with 17 in the commercial course, 66 in the general and 85 in the academic. As the last graduating class of Southwest High School, the seniors exhibited leadership and influence and culminated four years of out- standing achievements. In the field of academics, fourteen per cent of the class made the honor roll. In sports, the contributions of the members led all the other classes. There were days of honor and also days of Wa work—tests, college board examinations, appli- cation forms. Somehow the class managed to pull through without much trouble. There was work in the class and for the class. No one can forget the Senior Play, the committee work, the practices for graduation, the selection of motto and flower, and other numerous de- cisions. The class picnic united and strengthened ties of friendships. On Class Day the seniors turned over their obligations to the juniors. The pages read, the chapters retold, and the volume finished—the last graduating class of Southwest High proudly marched down the aisle.
