From that 'Punk'’ MAMIE KIMEL, the group buys a bamboo raft and then floats toward Australia to see SARAH SAIN and her kangeroo farm. In this land of bounce resides the world's ping-pong champion, GAYNELLE MARTIN, SUE MEADOWS, who is still hoping to beat Gaynelle, practices faithfully on her custom-built ping-pong table designed by that spirited craftsman EDDIE FLOWERS. Everyone piles into EMILY KETNER's canoe and heads for the Fiji IsLands. Queen of the islands, DEANNA SPRINKLE, welcomes them. During the welcome, ANNE BOYD and MARGARET HEWITT hastily build several grass huts for the guests to live in during their stay. SANDRA WINTERS is high in the top of a coconut tree busily collectingthe dinner. After a short stay, they take a flying fish to the Hawaiian Islands, recently purchased from the United States government by LINDA WATSON. There go those famous firemen STEVE BLAKLEY and BOBBY WALL off to extinguish the newest volcano created by NANCY SEALEY. As the group heads to see CAROL HOOTS and CAROLYN LINEBERRY do the hula, CAROL CROUCH gives them all a pineapple from her plantation, JOHNNY DISHER takes the group to the pampas of Argentina. Here BONNIE SPANN is running the world's largest comed beef factory. BETTY BALL, the first lady gaucho, is rounding up the corned beef. JERRY MAYES is just leaving with a posse to search the jungle for KAREN KING, who is out looking for animals for her zoo. After six days on LOUISE McBRIDE's ice breaker, a floating iceberg is spotted off the coast of Antarctica. MIKE HAUSER and KERMIT ESSEX are sitting on top of it playing a cool game of chess. Leaving the boys with a year's supply of sun tan lotion, they head for the world's newest capital, Brazilia. Campaign posters greet them. It seems that SNOOKEY EVERHART is running for president of the mafia; but his opponent RONNIE HARPER is pretty confident, and why not, with MARYELLEN ROBERTSON as campaign manager and a henchman like JERRY MOCK spying on Snookey's every move! As the group tries to get on board a steamship, PHYLLIS WOOSLEY tries to stop them for fear it will sink. Read your physics, girl! On the way to the Panama Canal, the ships carpenter, JUDY LUTZ, informs them that the ship won't clear the locks, but ELAINE BAITY and DIANN BECKNER, who took over the canal after ousting Castro, assure them that the ship will have plenty of room. The ship sails on through and it's North to Alaska. DAPHANE WALL's seal coat business is doing fine, but the same can not be said about DONALD JONES' gold mine. Thar just ain't no gold in them thar hills. Kayaking down the Pacific is a real experience for the group. Upon reaching their destination, California, they tour Disneyland guided by FRANCES ELLIS. HAROLD SHORE is starring in the Life Story of Roger Jones with Roger there to aid in the production and FRANKIE VAUGHT to direct it. The movie ought to be a smash with all that talent combined. CAROLYN CRAVER is on the campus of U.C.L.A. comparing it with all other U.S. colleges. Will she ever make up her mind? CAROL SWEAT has a thriving donkey farm near the Grand Canyon. LINDA SMITH is her best customer. She leads donkey-back excursions into the canyon. Surely hope she is sure-footed! In San Antonio VICKY CONRAD is busy at work trying to repair the Alamo, but JANE VOSS keeps the wall shaking with her constant basketball practice. Bourbon Street has changed a lot since CARROLL ST.PIERRE has opened her secretarial school. On the banks of the Mississippi, MARY MARTIN has a banana split factory. PEARL ROTHROCK takes the group to the Cape where DEAMIE GRIFFITH is recording data on the behavior of DENNIS WHITE in his space capsule which is headed for Pluto--we hope--but you know Dennis! With BRENDA ROTHROCK as the chief astronaut, the group takes a rocket ship to Southwest. IKE CAMPBELL and LARRY DULL are still there. Larry is writing a revised edition of Thirty Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary. Ike--well, he is just bothering the teachers. The reunion is a smashing success. But wait, who is missing? Class Prophecy The year is 1972. The U.S.S. Trojan is leaving Pier 12 in New York, setting course for Newfoundland. A group of people are sitting by the pool on the main deck talking over old times. Why, it is JACKIE McKNIGHT , JANIE HIGGINS , and BARBARA ANGEL! They start out on a turn 'bout deck and bump into GRAY GRIFFITH and RUSTY TALBERT. In the dining room they meet LEON WILLIAMSON, DONNIE JONES, and LESLIE STONE. During a delightful sea dinner this group discovers that they have all just begun a trip around the world. HILDA CLEARY and SYLVIA ARMSTRONG are co-owners in a thriving fish cannery in St. John's, Newfoundland. The group spends a day catching fish to give the girls. Back on the boat, they find that a few more familiar faces have joined them, PEGGY SULLIVAN, TOBY ANGEL, and GWYN RIDDLE, Captain MAC WEATHERMAN assures us that JAKE FOSTER and LARRY TOLBERT won'tbe allowed to disrupt the lifeboat drills again today. After arriving in Liverpool, the group jumps on a square-tired bus driven by WAYNE WILHELM and heads for London. They arrive just in time to see bobby CHUCK SHEEK arrest JOHN SHOAF for throwing pop bottles at the cricket match refereed by STUART CLINARD. DONNA DAVIS is special attendant to the queen at Buckingham Palace. As the ship heads for Paris, the group passes ELIZABETH WOLFE as she is swimming the English Channel. In Paris DARLA WALKER and KATHERINE BAILEY run an art gallery. In JUDY CONRAD's modeling school here, SHARON PFAFF and BETTY HALL are the top students. JANET LOAFMAN had just hired private eye LARRY SOWERS to appre- of Paris, ROBERT REED is revising the newest French book with the help of JERRY LOAFMAN, who has been teaching French for six years now. The group takes a plane from Paris International Airport to Madrid, Spain. PHYLLIS GRIFFITH and her capable co- pilot NELLIE CLAYTON see that the trip is comfortable and that there is enough air. At the same time, stewardess RUBY DAVIS is frantically trying to stop JERRY HESTER from jumping into the arms of a French mademoiselle. In Madrid everyone buys a copy of the Daily Gab edited by JUDY JONES and then they head for the bullfight where JERRY SCOTT is the matador for today's event. LINDA BOGER is selling peanuts in the stands. From Spain they go on through Switzerland on JANET HARPER's cable car service to FRANCES TUTTLE's ski lodge where JANE MARTIN is the head ski instructor. Everyone skies to Germany. DIANE WINDSOR, who is guarding the Berlin Wall, gives everyone a pass and they all cross the border to visit MARIAN LASHMIT's beer and ale brewery. A few samples are loaded, and they catch a plane to sunny Italy. CHARLES DUNN is paddling SHEILA FORD and NORA JEAN HAYES down the center of Venice in his gondola with the fringe on top. ARCHIE ROTHROCK guides them through Rome. He takes them to the Colosseum to the wrestling match between BUD HAUSER and JERRY TUCKER. The group eats lunch at SUSAN REYNOLDS' Pizza Parlor and then goes to the sports car track. Here HENRY SMITH is tearing down PHILLIP DUGGINS' Mercedes Benz and RICHARD HARPER's Porche under the expert eye of KAREN GUNDERSON, In the bleachers GEORGE NIFONG, JIMMY ROCHESTER, and ROBERT WISHON are eyeing the female spectators. At the Leaning Tower of Pisa, FRED KIMMER won't tell FRANK LONG what he has just dropped off the tower. BONNIE BOONE's opera company has just opened in the Parthenon in Athens, Greece. Outside the door ROBERT HEPLER is selling tickets to the Southwest Class of '62 reunion. LUENA GARRISON and JEANNIE SHAW are starring in the Ballet in Moscow. Out on the Russian Launching pads, ROBERT MILLER and BILL NELSON are trying frantically to photograph the latest Soviet missile before it leaves, carrying the moon's first inhabitant, RICHARD WATKINS. The group heads due south to the Suez Canal. Here LONNIE MAINES owns and operates a snowball factory. Just as they arrive, TOM BUCK is sneaking out the back door and across the desert with a bag of stolen snowballs. Is he going to start his own Arab war? MARGARET PILCHER and her Arab Globe Trotters are trotting across the sandy waste. The two tallest members of the team, LYNN BAILEY and EMILY WILLIAMS, are in the lead. They are greeted in China by a fireworks display from ALLEN FRENCH's gunpowder factory. MARY DENNIS and LOUISE DUNN let everyone sample a fortune cookie from their Chinese bakery. At this point they all are looking a little shaggy so they go next door to PAT BRYANT's barbershop for a trim. Here they find THEON VANCE having his head shaved. They take BOBBY WOOD's submarine to Japan. Their first sight here is GRANT GREENE selling stilts to Ambassador BOB BREWER so that he can see eye to eye with the Japanese. Why, isn't that BOB VOGLER making fans? He says he is making them for that famous fan dancer, SHIRLEY MYERS. 44

Class Poem OUR STEP FORWARD Curious the day we entered; Challenged as the years have come; Our school life has brought much growth, Surrounded by new friends and more freedom. Our aims were sure and steadfast, As we rose each year in class. Our goals and heads went higher Till Seniors we were at last! Our paths all seemed narrow, Yet the steps were marked clear. We had cause to doubt and wonder, But little reason to fear. Our acquaintances within these walls Here at Southwest High Have brought new experiences As each day grew nigh. We have within our hands The chance to bring success, But we know that this can be done only Through initiative and willingness. We now approach the threshold of life That leaves all but our memories behind. For now we look upon a great new dawn That faces all mankind!
