Ufadfi 0 As we look through the product of a prospering 1976 e nter pr is e, the Southwest Clarion, edited by ODELL and VIV IAN SHIEIDS, we see that BILLY I-IUFF, the famous playwright, is planning a Uagedy as his next play. He is calling it The Diary of PATT HORTON, starring the enchanting BRENDA HILL, ' Afterwards the glamorous ROCHELLE YOUNG is planning another one of her extravagant parties. Some of the ex- pected guests include LINDA McBRIDE, SI-IERILL STEWART, GAIL ROMINGER, JOE ROTHROCK and RUTH TAYLOR, Rochelle assures Ruth there will be plenty to eat and drink. It is rumored that playboy JON REYNOLDS and tempermental opera singer, MARY CHARLES CROUCH, are flying in on the same plane from Florida for the party. Could this mean anything? Reading on we find that several grand openings have been planned for the week. At the opening of the G. G H. Sports Arena owned by NORVELL GROSS and EUGEN IA HOWA RD, KAY VAN DOEREN, lady wrestler, with her trainers, MONTY MATTHEWS, and ROBERT BYERS, heavyweight boxing champion, will be featured along with the internation- ally known Globe Trotteis. The Trotters' star player is Double Dribble DON HAUSER. Of course, their water boy and mascot AUSTIN Booger MCGUIRE will be along. At the opening, the winner of the Mr. Southwest Contest will be an- nounced also. The three finalists are JACKIE BOYER, NORMAN CRAVER, and RONAID SPAINHOUR. GERALD DINKINS, designer of the Dinky Dinkins sports car, will be opening his business the same day DAN BREWER and PERRY HARPER open their Unbreakable Ping -Pong Company. ,DODD LINKER will start his horseback riding instructions next week. I-Ie will be assisted by JEAN DAVIS and KATIE HICE, Miss Hice is the star of the television series, Granny Oakley. VIRGINIA BOIEN plans a really big opening for her book store. She is going to have several outstanding writers on hand. DERRIS FOSTER and ROGER GOUGH, who write Peanuts will be there along with three authors, KENNETH FORD, STEVE TILLEY, and GARY BARNEY. The book by Mr. Ford and Mr. Tilley is entitled How to Pass Precollege Math Under Mrs. Bonnie Green and Mr. Barney's book, which is a little on the light side, is entitled How to Successfully Skip a Half Day at School. At the opening of TOMMY HARRELL's speedway, BECKY JARVIS and MANCHEL BARNEY will be battling for first and second place in the Southwest 500. GUANDELLA ISGETT is favored to place first in handsome GEORGE FEARR'lNGTON's Rodeo. RUBY YATES will be opening the Yates Low Rates Taxi Company. It is to be locate d next to MIKE KITE's and ROBERT SLATER's Construction Company. Two much-needed additions are being made at Southwestville. Dr.WILLIAM SIDES has agreed to practice Dentistry here. TOMMY HERMAN, veternarian, has also agreed to start his practice here. Dr. Herman cares for such well-known animals as BOBBIE JEAN IARGEN's pet poodle and TONA JENNINGS' pet goat. BETSY REED, WAYNE MOSER, and GAIL MEADOWS, Morticians, are planning an opening also. We feel that this is one business that will not fail. We read in the want-ad section that SAM SAPSAY and CAROLYN WELLMAN are trying to sell all their turkeys. It seems a turkey farm wasn't such a good idea after all. JANET MILLER, PAT LANDRETH, and DAVID IAWSON want to sell their poolroom. JOE LEGG, JERRY JO NES, JARVIS HUTCHINS, and CHARLES HIGGINS are protesting, since this will be taking their favorite pastime away. Reading the smaller print we find that ROBERT TUTTLE wants to get rid of his job which is working with garbage disposal system. BOBBY TESH will probably be interested since he is once again out of work. Turning the page, we see that JANICE CONRAD is planning to retire from her post as head of Alcoholic Anonymous. Her successor will be either WANDA PETTY, MARY KATHERINE MCMILLIAN, or RICHARD VITEK, 68

Lady scientist ANN ALSOBROOK has just returned from the moon in TERRY HELLARD's rocket ship. The distinquished senator, JOBY POTEAT, is trying to get a law passed forcing Miss Farthing to retire from the teach- ing profession. Professor JAMES COHN is against this, however, since it was through his four years of hard study in her classes that he was able to obtain his English degree. The Chief of Police TIMMY NORMAN is holding hot rodder ROY MENDENI-IALL for questioning until he can round up the notorious SI-IEILA BOOSE bootlegging gang. BOBBY HIGGINS, owner of the largest service station in Southwestville, is asking driving instructor PAT DANIELS to please stop two of her pupils, DONALD CRATER and ROY DALTON, for cutting corners around his station. They have just recently put one of his mechanics, CURTIS MILLER, in the hospital. ETHEL MILLER FOGLEMAN is once again threatening to leave WAVELL if he doesn't spend less time with the test tube and more time with her. We suggest she seek advice from the well-known marriage counselor, RUTH CHURCH. Some of the few most recent customers are COLENE BOLES, CAROL JAMES, BRENDA THOMPSON, and JUDY LEWIS. JANE FRYE, eminent lawyer, is pleading a case for JUDY MOCK. Several people are sueing Judy because her newly formulated red hair dye not only turned their hair but their scalps as well. ELAINE HAUSER is taking a pleasure cruise to Europe on Captain DANNY I-IAUSER's ocean liner. She has just com- pleted painting a portrait of GLENDA KIMMER, which was quite a job. Also on the pleasure cruise is Dr. MARY LOU PERRYMAN who has just finished doing plastic surgery on GARY PEACOCK. It seems he wasn't satisfied with his looks. WILMA ADAMS, fashion editor of debonaire KENNETH I-IESTER's beauty magazine, is writing afeature article on JANE ANDREW who has just been named president of the Cake-on Make-on C omp any. An article is also going to be done on LYDIA BINKLEY, well-known hair dresser. Three out of four Southwest stars prefer her. The three are GLENDA VOGLER, I-IAZEL DRAUGHN, and MARY ANN SLOAN. The fourth is stubborn RACHEL MABE who prefers another leading hair dresser, GORDON HUFFMAN. DOROTHY BOVEND ER and BOBBY ADAMS, co-owners of the South-Lite Night Club, have just billed the popular singer LOUISE STEWART. She will be singing her latest hit record, Send Me the Pillow That You Dream On. Featured in the chorus line, are LINDA LOWDER and NANCY KNOTT. Arrangements are also being made to secure the GENE EDWARDS orchestra. However, Mr. Edwards seems to be having trouble getting his celloist, RACHEL SPEAS, to play the right notes and may not be able to come. MARY Reynolds LOWDER, well-known columnist will be there with her assistant and admirer, DAVID SMITH. BRENDA BEROTH, ANN KING, and MARIE HARPER are secretaries to JERRY CORNATZER who owns the Southwest- ville Shopping Center. If Ann, Brenda and Marie prove too much for Mr. Cornatzer, LEON PHILLIPS, head of the newly built insane asylum, thinks he might be able to help. There have been several changes made at Southwest High School since THOMAS DAVIS is principal. First of all he wants to get LARRY BOLES and HAROLD COX graduated. ROBY CLEARY and GREGORY COLBERT have taken Mr. Pratt's and Mr. Crott's places in the agriculture building. ELIZABETH PETERS has taken over the pots and pans in Mrs. Green's home economics lab. CASPER JONES and BRENDA SPAUGH are still battling over who's going to take over Miss Lennon's place. Oh, yes, Scotty and friends have been replaced by a pudgy little lady with a pudgy little walk, her name: JUDY TURNER, of course.
