Different methods of teaching literature and grammar were presented to students this year in the English Department. Mrs. Clements taught her students to examine the grammar while reading and studying literature. In Sophomore English Mrs. Byrom assigned book reports in a seriesin- stead of arranging them all through the year. Mrs. Zwememann prepared seniors by teaching on a college level interest. Increasing kespausibidties in Growing High Schaal Vice-Principal, Col. A. D. Hall, cooperated with Mr. Lyssy to make Southwest a well organized and efficient high school. No matter how big the problem was, Col. Hall always seemed to have a solution. Students of Southwest could depend on him to be of help when they needed it. Al- though his discipline was firm, you could always receive a cheerful and understand- ing smile. The position of Vice-Prin- cipal is not an easy place to fill, but the students ofSouth- west think Col. Hall is one of the greatest! COLONEL A. D. HALL, VICE-PRINCIPAL COUNSELOR AND DEAN OF GIRLS, ROL MCDONALD Responsible for supervising student life, Mrs. Carol McDonald did a superb job of helping the students of South- west in the year '71-'72. She devoted a tremendous amount of time scheduling classes, helping with grades, and giving advice on matters of utmost impor- tance. Mrs. McDonald understood the problems of today's students, and it was this support that made her a favor- ite with students.
