Qvreign Languages Dew up Wuelrcy Conversational Spanish has taken on new meaning with Mr. Alan Ginsberg teaching all the Spanish courses at Southwest. Miss Betty Powell pronounces words in French class as students listen attentively. French, G erm an and Spanish are the three foreign languages offered at South- west. Phonetics, pronunciation and prac- tical conversation are practiced by students enrolled in these courses. Tape recorders and records improve accents and bring better appreciation and understanding of all peoples as a result of the study of these languages. Herr Lehrer, sprechen Sie mehr langsam bitte. ffislvry ombiucs Old With auf Mike Glowney seeks advice of Col. Hall on one of his term papers. The Little Theater classroom affords an excellent place for large groups of classes to meet. Mr. Don McAskill uses the mike to lecture. Texas History comes to life under the teaching of one of our history teachers, Mr. Earl Hessong. Mr. C. A. Mueller prepares for a class in addition to his duties as Principal. Included in the History Department at Southwest are classes in American History, Government, World History, and Texas History. During the semester students take field trips to the Bexar County Courthouse, San Antonio City Hall, the Alamo and other mission points, Witte Museum, and the Main Library. 29
