ui 38 Homecoming at S.W.D. begins weeks before' the ,actual game. Girls are nominated for the court 3 weeks before. Classes and clubs begin building their floats. Spirit eWeek is planned by the cheerleaders. The Powder Puff Game, between the Seniors 8: the Underclassmen, is planned and played. Then the special Homecoming - Spirit Week! Everyday you dress ina certain way to show your spirit. On Tuesday an assembly is held and all can- didates are introduced to the Student body, Wednesday the court is voted on. The tension is building!! By Thursday, everyone is buzzing around anxious to hear the results. The floats are judged at the Panther Growl, Thursday nightg The float winners are announced and the football team is introduced. And then the moment we've waited fort The court is announced. Friday morn- ing, the school votes on the Homecoming Queen. Then comes the game. Friday night halftime includes the intro- duction of the court, runners-up, and finally the news Homecoming Queen is crowned! Last, but certainly not the least of Homecoming events is the dance. The .dance is held in the cafeteria and is attended by the majority of the student body.l Yes, Homecoming at S.W,D. includes quite a string of events. Homecoming 75' was definately the best. 31 4.1-M The 1976 Queen of Hearts Pageant was held February 12 There were 107 contestants en tered of which 30 were chosen as finalists From these 30 the judges selected 13 girls to the court which consisted of Seniors WeeSe Donalson and Abbe Vogelg Juniors Kay Autry, Stacy Hull, Maria Lopez, Shelley Steele, Felicia Harber, and Shar- on Smoakg Sophomores Pam Adams, Pat Quinn, Beth Mathis, Susanne Blue and Judy Merkl. Maria Lopez was chosen as 2nd runner-up, Pam Adams as lst runner-up, and Miss Susanne Blue as the 1976 Queen of Hearts.
