The cool autumn morning shines with a clear brilliance, never before understood. The cattle moo in a low key, the chickens are all huddled up. And in the apple tree the spider weaves his web. With each pattern and more the dew droplets sparkle and shine like diamonds on the cool fall morning. Suddenly -e Silver splits the restless sky. A rumble drifts in from the west to join the soft patter of unseen droplets Mother Nature promptly divides into two opposing forces for the battle. The tension mounts as the struggle continues, gaining both force and fury each second. Without warning, all motion is terminated - a gentle calm descends. The forces disperse to parts unknown. Such is a thunderstorm. Laurie MacLeod Wind Wind plays a cantata Between the bare branches Of a lone oak tree expecting Applause. A city seen from an airp lane is like a dirty spot on the carpet. Becky Carter Captured by none lt worries me, yet hurries me by with a Smile and a wave - a gesture Forbidding a tear to pass. Can the grass feel footsteps? Captured by few It bothers me, yet fathers me like a son with a Smile and a pat - a gesture Forbidding a tear to pass Can the grass feel footsteps? Captured by all It frightenes me, yet tightens around my thoughts with a Smile and a wink - a gesture Forbidding a tear to pass As I walk on grass. Jane Karwo ski Karen Harris , Smoke The smoke was a serpent, a giant, thick pow- erful snake. It intertwined through the branches of the trees. It brought the aroma of burning wood, the odor of burning fur and flesh. It was evil, and would not go away for days. The snake was there before, during and after the yellow flames licked away at the creatures of the forest. Kim Miller The sun shone gloriously, its heat burning, beautifully, sweat pouring from every gland, illuminating the small puffy clouds, melting everything, like a dog on the beach, withering the vegetation, warming flo wers, drying up small streams, beams softly shining earthward drought, making a wonderous rainbow, killing cattle, looking so magnificent while rising, miserable suffering, and even more so while setting.
