The After-Life The relatives filled her old dead house like pack-rats, Rummaged through her drawers, Threw closets open to the light, Stole keepsakes, destroyed secrets With vulture-like enthusiasm They had no right She would not have wanted this I felt her frowning presence Close to me. Dianne Chance He Took out his bright red and white and black printed handkerchief - sneezing cooly and forcefully into it, wiping his nose in a handy, dandy, Joe Cool swipe. He missed however one of the spots, giving him a most hideous appearance and forcing his friends to regard him with David Alwllblat the love they held especially for lepers, prostitutes, legless men, stuttering buffoons, and Congressmen, He thought immediately that he must have bad breath, body odor, or dandruff. He never considered the fact that perhaps, with his bright red and white and black printed handkerchief, that he had, with a handy, dandy, Joe Cool swipe, wiped his nose off of his face. Eggs are fragile Ahard, thin layer with something good inside Men are like eggs Take away their dreams and all you have left is a shell My dad told me of men who eat dreams for breakfast, except he didn't call them men. Brad Kizzort Scott Emmons Mall People Bu stling, rustling, Packages in hand, Little children, running, playing, Mothers running after. Clothes of the rich here, And here, a poor man in rags. Sho rt skirts, Long dresses Swinging to and fro. And here comes a turkey waddler, Hurrying to her appointment at My F Now, I'm going to walk among them These cheerful faces,' And blank ones too. Ah! Now walking beside me Is a lawyer, or either a doctor one, His expression tells me so. And now sitting on the bench ahead A girl who is staring at me. A smile and slip quietly by And wonder what she writes of me. air Lady. Melanie Sims 181 lf

Never before has such zeal been centered around one event nationwide. The word bicentennial has become a standard of living. The advertising world has gone berserk with its use of slogans and displays. Go Bicentennial this year, be the first to wear the official bicentennial underwear that can be purchased only at America's bicentennial store. The basic Old Glory colors will look chic even under- neath your most stylish fashions. Don't be left out! Jump on the bandwagon now and ride into the year of 76 knowing you are bicentennial patriot. Thousands of bicentennial products are flooding the market and finding their way into American homes. No home is complete without several souvenirs of America's history proudly displayed: Bicentennial life-size statues of Minute Men, replicas of the Libertv Bell, murals of Paul Revere's famous ride, etc, will accumulate in American homes. Boon every family will be celebrating bi- centennial day once a week. Each member will dress in the fashions of the time and act in a manner associated with the period. The unbelievable advertisements and products that are revealed each day are comically absurd. It is a challenge to guess what bicentennial product will be contrived the succeeding day. Perhaps bicentennial toothpicks are next on the list. attack the commies Silence dances in what little Left right left Filled in green And ready to go Attack the British As they march by San Juan isnft a bad place to go Neither was Canada or Mexico, or Spain, or Italy, or France, or Germany so attack that pan zer 1 fUncle Fred's Mercuryj The rain poured loudly Debbie Mobley On the ruined soil. She collected shopping bags, l had a whole collection of shopping bags. When you saw her she was always bundled up in layer, upon layer, upon layer, of clothes 5 old ratty clothes, found clothes. She talked to me when she saw me on the street. And where she kept her spot most of the time was behind that paper sign with SAVINGS and LOANS advertised. But sleeping behind savings and loans got her a beating to death instead of saving her anything. So she slept as always - oblivious and not in the world caring of the street lights, neon signs flashing, cars brights, or muggers but in a frozen red pool tonight, bundled up in layer, upon layer, upon layer, of clothes, old ratty clothes, found clothes.
