Cindy Neal We get up to it's 38 out with a high today of 52 Then we hurry quickly from the warmth of our home to the shelter of the car, where we watch the cold outside indifferently until we clamber out with our necks tucked into our collars and our eyes glued towards the relief of the heated school, where we bask in our class- rooms, staring out the window at the intangible rain outside, until our friend approaches us with, Good morning, nice weather today isn't it? And automatically we answer, Good morning, yes it is isn't it, very nice, as we gaze unconsciously into the storm and the clock traveling unmeaningfully into the evening. Ted Wan sley

My staff has helped me attain this goal- of making the 23-rd edition of the PANTHER yearbook YOUR book, not OUR book. The advisor, jane Harrellp assistant editors, WeeSe Donalson and Cathy Akoubian, the section editors, Cindy Buttrill, Fred Petter, Michelle Metaxas, Marna Scarry, Gayle Smith, and Paige Smith, and the remaining staff have all worked endlessly to make this book a success. I could not have produced this yearbook without their devotion and friendship. I would like to thank the photographers - especially Matt Mitchell, I knew I could depend on Matt at any time and I appreciate his unfailing patience and desire to provide quality photography. Congratulations to jane Harrell, my friend, advisor, and the leader of the HarrELL S ANGELS for retaining her sanity another land lastl year as the best advisor the PANTHER will ever have. A special thanks to our publishing representative Dan Troy. He made those hectic deadline days seem some- what bearable. We hope this yearbook will make you laugh, smile, cry, or remember the many memories from those special attractions and adventures YOU experi- enced at S W D. - Nancy Nalls - Editor

The Clique People standing in social circles: chatting nervously. Talking, and talking, aiming to impress. Nodding and smiling and not really caring . .- . everyone so busy trying to impress - that no one is impressed - unless it is with his ovsm excellent performance. Cindy Neal It was my first clay at work, and wouldn't you know, I got stuck making French fries. I guess I was wrong in thinking my job at Chic-fil-a would be a little glamorous. When I didn't do too well at dipping ice cones in chocolate syrup ftwo fell in the chocolatej, I was told to bag the orders. After a few mixups and some customers complaining because the lids on the cole slaw weren't on tight enough tit, must have been a messj, I got switched to French fries. My boss said an idiot could make French fries so I guess that's why they gave me that job. The first batch turned out all right and I was proud. The lines at the cash register started getting longer and longer, and everyone was running around in a mad rush. I put on the second batch of fries but somehow, in all the rush, I managed to forget all about them. I remembered when I saw the grease splattering and clouds of black smoke rising slowly. Discouraged and disillusioned, I sat in the employees restroom for 15 minutes and cried. Feeling better and a little more confident, I remembered I only had Slmore hours to work that day. I didn't have to worry because I almost never make the same mistakes twice and I'd already done everything wrong, Camille Taylor I love the weekend, although that does not set me apart from everyone else. Unfortunately, Monday is just around the corner. I hope it gets hit by a bus. Karen Harris Q.'7'-I I r r I
