The ingredients of happiness are so simple that they can be counted on one hand. Perhaps Sandy and Bill have found one of these precious ingredients by wearing the titles, Mr. and Miss Southwest. Three branches of this organization, the Student Senate, the Student Activities Council, and the Spiritual Life Council coordinated each program to make it one of significant importance. The Student Senate, as compared to the United States Senate, is in charge of all legislative policies, and expresses student policy. There was probably never a time when so much official effort was being expended to produce happiness .,. And thus, is the duty of the Student Activities Council as they planned and prepared for Homecoming, the Mozarkian Pageant, the Mr. and Miss Southwest Pageant, High School Days, and the Student Association Movies. Within the council of Spiritual Life, lies the task of studying, advising and coordinating the programs related to spiritual life. Therefore, the councils work all for one CS. The collegiate singers will surely receive great joy because of their enthusiasm in making others happy through their songs. This year brought a new name to the former a cappella choir and with it a refreshing new sound. Contempos The Contempos want to say something to people through music. This is their aim and its accomplishment is evident in the pleasant receptions they receive wherever they sing. On one occasion they entertained Missouri's Secretary of State, Mr. Kirkpatrick and during the Easter Break they toured South Dakota. S S . i ' . These students were first nominated by the department head of their respective department. Final selection was based upon the results of a faculty committee, on the students service to Southwest Baptist College, scholastic achievement, and extracurricular activities. Ones securing this honor have found that Upon this searching self-analysis, depends the discovery of those qualities that make each man unique, and whose de- velopment alone can bring satisfaction, ,kg MA V :eg Y - . t.z+r'1i ?11'l ' Q 5 .-fig? Sells has led Southwest in great strides of progress during his first two years as our President. His appointment of the Blue Ribbon Committee initiated many new plans to enable more students to participate in projects with the administration and faculty. Dr. Sells has truly found that Happiness comes not from having easy work, but in the afterglow of satisfaction that accompanies any unselfish task well done. The Campus of Christian IdeaIs is guided by the dilligent efforts of our administrators. Dr. Sells coordinates the work of each administrator, just as they do each area of work, Mr. Edmondson, as director of development has the task of gaining funds to support SWBC. Mr. Goodson helps Dr. Sells in the functions of our college, giving advice and assistance to many students needing loans or grants to continue their studies. Under the direction of Dr. Richard Kahoe, dean of student personnel, regulations, counseling and housing are directed. Improvement of the academic course work and departments is under Mr. Tom Padgett, dean of academic affairs. Dr, Redford, president emeritus, represents Southwest in many activities throughout the Convention. Given the task of all business relations within the college is the business manager, Mr. Taylor. The Dean of Alumni and College Relations, Mr. Jesse Wade keeps the alumni of SWBC informed about current happenings and publishes all materials about the institution.
