Thoughts of floats, dances, posters, tissue flowers, proms, and many thoughts of individual names and faces run through our heads. We can only hope that each of you share the many fine memories we cherish. We wish to say THANK YOU to so many of you who have given us your support over the past three years, without it we would have never made it. As you graduate, you are on the threshold of your future. lt is the beginning of new adventures, new challenges, and new dreams. We wish you all happiness and success in the years to come. You can be sure we'll never forget the Class of '77, and we hope the many friendships we have made will continue to grow. The sophomore class, in September of 1976, came to SHS and slowly adapted to S 6 the customs of Southside High School. O Class of '79 started its year by electing the class council and officers. The first big project we had was the poster contest for the Homecoming Game. Much spirit ul was shown as everyone worked together. 4 I , We won third place. We also had a suc- 5 . 1 1 - cessful dance in November. Many sopho- f A ' ' L 5 5' F mores came to participate in decorating the halls for the SHS-EFA football game. Even though we won second place for the decorating contest, the sophomore class showed its spirit at the pep assembly by winning the Spirit jug. The sophomore jV Cheerleaders and football players did a good job helping to win the EFA football game. Also, the football players were intracity Champi- ons, and the jV Cheerleaders came in 2nd place at competition. For Christmas we had a door-decora- ting contest. The sophomores had many ideas which they used with this contest. The sophomores sold yearbook cov- ers. Also, a three-day fund raising project took place in February, and our class picnic will be held at the end of the year at Harris Hill. The Student Council at Southside acts as the coordinating body for all student activities. The Student Council started the school year by presenting an officer inauguration assembly, which the student body attended. During the year, the council was involved with the future of Southside by distributing and tabulat- ing a survey for the S.C.O.P.E. committee. 122 The council handled the dance schedule, the elections of the Homecoming and Erie Bell Queens, and the Salvation Army can drive. A student exchange day was organized. Popular movies were shown. Money was raised and donated to charity organiza- tions. Student communication and interest was restored in student activities. 4 4 H0 P T0 IT The Student Council Christmas Tree. zu.: - A 4 rslyf Q-My nf I ty' ,,, Blood donors for the annual Bloodhound trophy. o l2,:fg,:i,,g L A z:,o ' C 2? s D M W i 5 J x-'aku ! jf. The committee was comprised of citizens from all the schools feeding into Southside High School. The members worked throughout the summer of 1976 and into December preparing surveys, checking into various funding possibilities, and to bring to the attention of the Board of Education what people on the Southside are interested in and what needs they feel the Southside Community should have. In December the committee presented its findings and recommendations to the Board of Education. 150 Southside, as it appeared in 1947. -2, L, an QZIDDDQD KRWFDCOUQD st .ox I I N ax ' ! it . ff X 5 ll 1 1 n ty ' x U ,L sie.-. . -. . -X -' -,xr ' -,g , .- :s.la '-. .'- ' V , .
