The to Jerry Lawes who won the tumbling Hornets showed great skill and spirit but lacked the ex- perience to put them on top. When the sectional meet came up, Southside's matmen looked to be in the peel: ot condition. Yet, as tate would have it, they bowed graciously to their superiors ot rival schools. Great honor goes to Jerry Lawes who won the championship bout in his division at the state sectionals.

FOOTBALL squad gave Southside a bright outlook on the tuture by making a very good showing in the '54 - '55 campaign. As was the case with the Varsity, their great success should not be measured in points but in ability gained. Under the painstaking direction ot Coaches Abe Ferris and Bob Haber- salt, the Junior Hornets won over halt ot the Conterence games. Several ot the underclassmen matched the boys ot the Varsity in de- termination and skill, but due to their inexperience and lack ot size were held to the Junior team. Anywhere trom six to twelve candidates trom the Junior squad will ad- vance to the varsity in the '55 - '56 campaign. ln them lies the hope ot a well experienced and well rounded team tor '55, First Row: W.
