CJZPT TW g at etlc a ministration Brother I amos Powers A coach who teaches by per- torming rather than by lecturing, Brother lames has guided the baseball squad to three Catholic League championships, and his team this year is a Prep title contender. His B football eleven, a clean-cut combination that personified its mentor's prin- ciples, fought its way to the co- championship ot the Prep League's B division. Brother lames also directed the record boxing tournament. Brother Gerard Knuth A history ot sports at South Side would be a lie without several chapters on the master of detail, the tireless supervisor and com- petent coach, Brother Gerard. He was assistant varsity football coach, varsity and B basketball coach, boxing tournament super- visor, etc., never being without some responsibility, yet passing from one position to another with cheertulness spelled from ear to ear. Mr. Sylvester Moclntolh Since Red Maclntosh took over South Sides gridders two sea- sons ago, the Dragons won tour- teen games and dropped but tivo. Previously their annual win column had averaged but two or three victories. Reds teams were characterized by their en- thusiasm and dogged fighting spirit that persisted even down to the last stone wall on the Prep League schedule. t t I Brother Dan Rabitt Brother Dan took over the reins of the Athletic Department two years ago. Under his regime the Dragons bowed into the Prep League, where they were more or less expected to serve as the circuits doormats for a year or two. But South Sides high-flying basketball team had plenty to say about that, and the baseball squad is a Prep championship contender. It was Brother Dan who intro- duced the junior varsity idea to South Side athletics. He is also co-cleviser of ten-man soccer. In his spare time he coached the soccer eleven to a state championship. xjf ,nfl Z t 3 Page Forty-Two
