Revere is chiefly remembered for his famous ride on the night of April 18, 1775, to warn Lexington that the British were com- ing. July 4--The Declaration of Inde- pendence was signed and adopted by members of the Continental Con- gress at Independence I-Iall, Phila- delphia IFJ. The actual document was written by a committee of five, headed by Thomas Jefferson. Other members were John Adams, Benja- min Franklin fCJ, Robert R. Living- ston and Roger Sherman. During the summer of 1776, Dan- iel Boone fEJ was busy searching the woods round Boonesboro, Ken- tucky, for one of his daughters who had been kidnapped by the Indians. She was later found.
