The seniors especially rose to this challenge with three National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Sophomore Regina Cox, represented Southport at the Voice of Democracy contest, winning third. These and many more honors prove that Southport has truly continued its tradition ot being the home of champions. i Mr. Theil presented Rena Smith, one of our very active and talented seniors, with an award for scoring the highest on the Betty Crocker test given by General Mills lnc. Preparing for their Canadian trip are Mike Kasting and John Butler. While visiting Canada, these boys were able to learn more about the Canadian students and school systems. l l 7
