Mr. Leedy mingles freely with the students in friendly conversation. We profoundly regret the resignation of Mr. Leedy, for we feel that we have lost an out- standing educator who has led S.H.S. through many successful years. Faculty and students alike extend to Mr. Leedy best wishes for happiness in retirement. Senior Joe Daniels represented Southport at the National Youth Conference on the Atom held in Chicago during the month of November.

Southport High School is more than a mass of brick and mortar. It is a society in itself composed of many people from all walks of life. It is a society which helps these people to grow mentally, socially, and physically. Southport ' s foundation is not of cement, but of hearts and spirits of students and faculty mem- bers, past and present. Its cornerstone is made up of school spirit and pride. This pride enables Southport students to rank high in any field in which they en- deavor or compete. Sue Hiatt and Mr. Theil inspect some of the landscaping made possible through the Student Council to beautify our school grounds.

W onors Names-Games-Aims: It is these three words that sum up the people, sports, and activities of Southport High School. As seniors, we reflect on the gnarled and craggy path that has led us unceasingly upward. The path itself IS lined with the familiar names and faces of people whom we have known, with the prizes of victory which we have nobly won, and with the honors and achievements which we have received in working faithfully toward our aim and goal. Mr. Krause congratulates Joe Daniels, finalist in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
