Norma Boyd and Terry Voipp participated with various other students in the Nativity Scene created for the Christmas convocation f ' rodiictions Themes such as Let ' s Grind Up the Redskin Pea- nuts and many more adorned the homecoming floats. Since weeks of preparation accompanied this gala event, it was the most successful home- coming in Southport ' s history. The crowning of Homecoming Queen Andrea Decver climaxed the evening ' s festivities. With her court of Kathy Ball, Barbara Kappmeyer, Pam Young, Nancy Howard, and Patty Pasch, she happily reigned not only over the Homecoming but also the Sweater Swirl.

The senior girls, keeping with tradi- tion, present the finale of the Talent Show with songs of praise to S,H,S. With all acts aboard, the showboat Cardinal Belle, which set the stage for the Talent Show, sailed along leaving loads of talent to he carried by the waves to the audience on the shore. Varied j tudeyit Each year on Easter Sunday, people from our community churches come together to commemorate the Resurrection with r Easter Sunrise Service. Various students, many choirs, and the orchestra participate in this event to make it one of the most inspiring presentations of the school.

First-year typists pound the keyboard to pei-fect skills of rhythm, :peed ?nd accuracy while torming daily timed writ ' ng exercises. j-rovn y ur jjolnt v View J he J ht-ec rd s tid yVioi ' c College preparatory, home economics, commercial, industrial arts, agriculture and general are the six courses of study offered at Southport from which a student may choose the course that will best meet his needs and abilities. There are special, advanced courses offered in many fields for thos student who wsh to pre-prepare themselves for special fields. A student may also gain valuable practical experience through his work as physical education assistant, of- fice girl, cadet teacher, or as teacher ' s secretary. Sit lux (Let thtre bi knowledge) is the motto of the Latin classes. This year ' s enrollment of Latin sttidents is the largest in the history of Southport High School.
