Decorations in gay colors help to make the lunch period at Southport High School more appealing to the eye as the seasons change. Season decorations do much to pro- mote good feeling and spirit among the students at various times of the year. Lonnie Beck is shown creating a mural depicting the Christmas Na- tivity scene on an English room black- board. V Southport can be found decorated in some way at almost every season of the year. AI- ways there is an organization ready and will- ing to participate in dressing up the school, Various clubs have the yearly duty of bring- ing Southport to life at certain seasons. Since the cafeteria is utilized by everyone, it is the recipient on the most elaborate decorations. Several teachers take it upon themselves to brighten their rooms with appropriate adorn- ments. In a class of three hundred and forty-seven students it is quite an honor to be selected as valedictorian. This year, Jerry Dennerline was chosen to give the traditional address at com- mencement.
