Every year the pupils of the speech class attempt to exhibit their skill in manipulation of props. Above Dennis Hoefgen is talking about human anatomy using the Visible Man. 'i f'ii'l 'i ii 'Q During the Thanksgiving season, the Home Economics department prepared a cornucopia made of bread. In the picture above Mrs. Smith is showing Shirley Bultman and Mary Jo Pierce how to roll the dough around a tunnel form. A cornucopia made of bread was presented to Mr. Leedy. T 0 tb ftmcf tlvrou lo dzfficu Inky Anonymous One of the new additions to Southport this year is the speech therapist, Mr. Thompson. He devotes one day a week to correcting students who have speech difficulties. Through the halls of Southport can be heard the many quotable quotes signifying the road to progress that scholastic achievements have been traveling. Expressions such as, The library has received some new books , or Have you seen the new speech therapy lab? , can be heard almost every day as students journey from one classroom to another. In the future new quotations will be heard as classes in economics, psychology, and others take their place. 9

The talent show, with the theme Hollywood Comes to a Mountain Resort, revealed the assorted talents of Southportites. As may be seen in the above pictures, the show contained acrobats, singers, and soft-shoe dancers. Annually, in the Spring, the Home Economics Department presents a Style Show for the girls in school. Modeling their dresses are Doris Hernly, Jacqueline Day, Molly Millis, Barbara Dyke, Sally Steffey, Donna Harness, Betty Burch, Connie Davis and Phyllis Blackwell.
